$895,000 eve of trial settlement for 29 year old construction worker who fractured back after falling off a roof.
Plaintiff was working on the roof of a house without any safety devices when he fell to the ground. He sustained several compression fractures in his back and a complex fracture of his wrist, each requiring surgery. Although the owner of the premises was uninsured, plaintiff’s counsel was able to show enough of a connection between the property and another entity to invoke the latter’s insurance coverage (which was limited to $1,000,000). Amy Rosenbloom negotiated the settlement offer on the eve of trial (more than seven years after the accident) at plaintiff’s request to avoid the inevitability of an appeal and further delay.
